Natural Birth

So this wasn't on my list of topics I was going to write about first but after a 7 week drought of not even writing a blog I figured it was better to write off subject than not write at all.
I have been thinking a lot lately about birthing plans and options for the next time we decide to get pregnant, which could still be a while so nobody get too excited. When we had Chaz things were just a little on the crazy side so birthing methods were not really discussed or thought about. Next time I want to be over prepared for everything so it will be a peaceful, enjoyable process that I won't have nightmares about (I often have bad dreams about giving birth due to my experience with Chaz).
Anyways, all this had lead me to the decision that I would like to do it naturally AND in a birthing tub. Now, if you would have asked me if I would ever have considered giving birth in water a couple months ago I would have cringed and said that was the sickest thing ever. However after lots of research on natural birth and natural ways to ease the pain it seems water is the way to go. My dear husband of course thinks I am crazy to think I am going to give birth without an epidural, and he may be right, but I figure I have pleanty of time to psych myself up for the big event. He is ok with whatever I decide though as long as whatever we do happens in a hospital in case any complications would arise. I can gladly respect his wishes on that. I have already found the hospitals in the area who have midwives and birthing tubs.
The most interesting part of my research on natural and water birth is all the stuff I have been learning about all the unnecessary and harmful things they do to most babies born in the US if you don't have a plan in place or know about what they do. Most people just trust that if its how they do it in the hospital it must be good and right...but that is not at all true. I challenge all pregnant moms and women planning to get pregnant to really research what happens to your baby in the hospital, what is necessary, and what may be harming them. You will be suprised what you find out. Like our parents always told us, just because everyone is dong it doesn't mean it's right.
